i am new to this site and found it by researching a little. thanks to this site and all of the participating advisors, i have been able to fix 3 out of 4 broken xbox 360s. the one i am having trouble with has the secondary code 0020. while inspecting the bottom side of this particular motherboard i found a yellow wire soldered in at the #4 pin of the cooling fan and the capacitor c1c10 next to where you plug in the dvd drive. this is an older motherboard without the hdmi from around 2005, i think. is it normal for some of these old boards to have that wire? would it help if i removed it? this xbox belonged to my son, and no work was done on it that i know of, since his mother bought it for him as a gift brand new, though she did mention having it repaired at one point, and im not sure who she used as the repairman. any insight on this would be appreciated...

sounds like somebody was trying to juice up the fan to keep the system cooler..i have never seen it any of the boxes that i have fixed,so i would remove the wire..and then try reflowing the the system and go from there..
